Speaker: 1 in 5 Mental Health Symposium
May 5, 2014
Lynn Keane was one of the ten guest speakers/workshop facilitators at Trillium Lakelands District School Board’s event, “1 in 5: A Mental Health Symposium” on May 2, 2014. The event targeted the 3 Muskoka High School and served over 400 Gr. 10 students from across the region. Lynn shared her family’s story about suicide and mental illness with a calm quiet; she compelled both staff and students to question the language we use around mental illness, inciting not just young people but, all people, to be the change. Lynn’s commitment to ending the stigma of mental illness both moved and motivated those in the audience to continue conversations in the school, classroom, and community.
